Hecks

Chris and Andrew Hecks are the current family members running the business which stretches back at least six generations to 1840. A visit will show that not much has changed here during that time. They have a modern belt press that is much quicker and easier to use than the traditional building of straw cheeses for pressing but otherwise they just leave the apples do their thing in peace. Locally they are much loved for the fact that you can bring them a few baskets of apples and they will normally make time to press them for you for either juice or cider. This has probably done as much as anything to keep a lot of single trees and small orchards alive.
